Wednesday, July 01, 2009: Dell is reportedly working on a pocket-sized Internet device that would run on Google's Android operating system. Fashioned after Apple's iPod Touch, Dell's unnamed gadget is in development since last year, according to a media report.
The Wall Street Journal said, "Two people who saw early prototypes described the device as slightly larger than Apple Inc.'s iPod Touch, which is similar to the iPhone but does not have cellphone capabilities. Another person who was briefed on the company's plans said Dell may begin selling the device later this year, though this person said the plan could be delayed or scrapped entirely."

Friday, June 19, 2009: LG Electronics is going to produce a new category of SmartVine N-series LCD monitors that include embedded 'virtualization' technology from US-based NComputing Inc., enabling up to 11 people to share a single PC. These monitors will be marketed worldwide by LG beginning this month.
Virtualization refers to technology that allows one computer to perform the work of many machines. The sub-$200 computing solution will further drive the acceleration towards desktop virtualization and 'cloud computing' in which computing is centralised and done over the Web.
LG Electronics, which shipped more than 15 million monitors last year, will bring its global distribution network to the alliance, while NComputing will contribute its hardware and vSpace virtualization software

Thursday, June 18, 2009: Engineering students at Duke University, Durham, US have created a new cell phone technology called PhonePoint Pen, that permits users to write short notes in the air with their phone and have that message automatically sent to an e-mail address. To create this first-generation application, the students took advantage of the accelerometers in emerging cell phones.
According to researchers, accelerometers are the devices in phones that not only keep track of the phone's movements, but make it possible for the display screens to rotate from landscape to portrait modes depending on how the phone is rotated. These devices are always 'on', so there is no additional burden on the phone to use this new application.
The new SoundDock Series II system works with the iPhone 3G and original iPhone models.
Thursday, June 18, 2009: Bose has introduced the SoundDock Series II digital music system -- a speaker system for iPod and iPhone with an enhanced look and added functionality. It is the first "Works with iPhone" certified SoundDock system from Bose.
The system features a new auxiliary input that lets users connect other audio devices, such as an MP3 player, portable CD player or music-enabled phone. It provides dock-and-play simplicity and will charge an iPod or iPhone while in use. No additional setup is required. An included infrared remote controls the system and basic iPod and iPhone functions, including playlist navigation, from across the room. Volume controls are located on the unit.
The design of the SoundDock Series II system has been updated to resemble the distinctive lines of the Bose SoundDock Portable digital music system. It measures 16.89X30.
